BioEnergetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) was developed during the mid-1970s by chiropractor Dr. M.T. Morter, Jr., and is considered a non-invasive holistic approach to well-being that coordinates and balances the workings of all the systems of the body. Emotions and thoughts play a big role in your health. Think about something that you really hate or someone that really bothers you. It is actually possible to increase your heart rate, tense up your shoulders, bring on a headache, or make you sick to your stomach by just thinking about it! Thinking (mental stress) can change the way your body functions and can be either positive or negative depending on your thoughts. What you think about is probably the most important factor in regard to your overall health.
Your body isn’t designed to be sick or healthy but to survive. It is important to understand that everything the body does is for the sole purpose of survival right now, the condition of this
moment and deals by responding to the greatest threat to survival first. We call this top priority. You may feel terrible, but your body is doing the best it can under the circumstances that you provide for it. Believe it or not, often the greatest threat of the moment is something stored in your memory—your brain’s hard drive—keeping you stuck in SEMO(subconscious emotional memory override). SEMO is then in control of running our body. And, when nothing is done to update the current status of the threat or SEMO, it may keep responding over and
over until that particular system becomes exhausted. That's when you have symptoms like pain or disease.
B.E.S.T. updates physical and emotional memory. By touching certain pressure points, in the proper sequence, and having you think about specific memory stress, we have found that your body begins to re-communicate with your brain, which of course, controls all functions in your body. What exactly is happening during a BEST Treatment? We are removing interferences between the mind and body that are preventing the body from functioning as optimally as it can. Our nervous system can get stuck in a pattern of 'flight or fight', creating a myriad of symptoms over time. B.E.S.T. re-times the nervous system which allows healing to occur.
What is a Recurring Thought? Any thought that repeats itself throughout the day or night, basically 'wearing a rut' in your brain. We know that any thought or experience that goes into our mind with any intensity and/or duration can create an interference in the way our body functions. These thoughts can be in present day or the past.
What is a Chief Complaint? Your primary pain or symptom; the physical manifestation of interferences between the mind and the body.
What is the relevance of the Feelings from the chart? The negative word relates to the energetic vibration or emotion that was expressed at a previous time in your life. This emotion gets activated while thinking about a specific chief complaint or recurring thought. The positive feeling is the energetic vibration or emotion that will neutralize or cancel out the negative vibration. Consider that every negative vibration is created at a time when we were in a positive state of being. In other words, we get “bushwhacked” during times in our life when everything is going along seemingly well. In order to clear the underlying negative vibration, we have to go back to the feeling we were experiencing when we were “bushwhacked”.
Why do I need to Hold my breath? When holding the breath, either in or out, the subconscious intelligence shuts down all non-essential brain cell activity in order to live a little longer without air. When the brain cells making certain muscles tight are shut off, in unison with the practitioner contacting certain points around those muscle groups, the muscles can relax.
What is the point of holiding Contact Points? Holding the contact points will re-time or synchronize your body with the pulsation of the creative energy that made you. The practitioner will hold the contacts until he or she feels the pulses beat with the same frequency, intensity and duration.
What does the Eye Position represent? Eyes open/closed, up, down, left or right allows us to access various areas of the brain and cranial nerves where the interference is stuck.
Why do I need to use Controlled Breathing? Research indicates this integrates the right and left brain while maintaining the balance of a BEST adjustment. It also activates the parasympathetic or the “rest and digest” part of the nervous system, which is where we are designed to be in most often in order for the body to heal, repair, filter, etc.
Why do I have to Raise my Head during treatment? Raising your head at the end of each treatment engages the “righting reflex”. This will integrate the balanced physiology into the patient’s subconscious memory when the patient returns to a standing or weight bearing position. Basically it is a 'reset' button for the brain, much like ctl-alt-del is for the computer.
Why does Touching the skin affect the muscle tone? Muscle tone is an expression of subconscious instructions coming from the nervous system. If the patient’s back muscles will not relax while lying face down on the table, he is “stuck” in defense physiology. This inappropriate musculature is probably caused by a subconsciously stored memory of a past traumatic experience, injury, stress or feeling. Touching the skin above the tight muscles is the fastest way to send corrective signals directly to the brain. Upon evaluation, the brain sends immediate motor commands that release the tight muscles from it’s inappropriate behavior.
What is toxicity? Toxicity is anything that you consume, including what you breathe, that alter normal physiology functions. This may also include things that are considered good for you in excessive amounts.
What is the M Power March? The M Power March is an exercise that improves neurological balance and re-times internal communication by extending large muscle groups and their joints through a full range of motion. It is free neurological update much like an update on your computer.
